Why Is Avast Unable To Scan Some Files

If Avast is unable to scan some files on the computer, it means that there is an internal system issue such as bad archive or any other file access related issue.

It does not mean that the file is a threat to the computer’s security. If you need to find the reason for why a specific file is not scanned by Avast, follow these steps.

  • When the scan is completed, click the file on the screen whose result reads ‘some files could not be scanned.’ Then, click the Detailed report button. Have a look at the file’s log to find out why it could not be scanned by Avast.
  • You can ignore the issue in most cases. However, if you need to find out whether the file is a threat, you can contact our tech support team.
