To resolve this issue, follow the methods given below:

  • You can delete the temporary update files.
  • Try scanning for malware.
  • Try turning off the Windows Firewall.
  • If you find that the above methods do not work, reinstall the AVG antivirus on your computer.

The first method that you can try is updating your AVG antivirus manually. It is not much of a fix for AVG’s automatic updates. But, this is still one way of resolving the issue.

Now, let us look into two of the methods in detail:

Avg Antivirus Not Updating

Method 1-Deleting the Temporary Update Files:

When you delete the AVG software’s temporary update files, you might be able to resolve the issue. You can do this if AVG throws an update or general error message while updating.

  • On your computer, open the AVG window.
  • Select Options and choose the Advanced settings from the menu.
  • Next to the Update option, you will see a + sign. When you click the sign, the Update option will expand.
  • Now, press the Manage button.
  • Choose the Delete temporary update files option.
  • Now, you have to confirm the deletion. So, click the Yes button to confirm and then delete the temporary update files.

Method 2-Scanning for Malware:

  • Malware has the capability to block AVG updates.
  • By purging the malware, you can fix the AVG updates. You can conveniently do this using Malwarebytes.
  • Now, navigate to the official site and download the free Malwarebytes for Windows.
  • To run a scan, press the Scan Now button.

We have now seen two ways of fixing the “AVG antivirus not updating” issue.
