Avg File Shredder

AVG file shredder

AVG file shredder helps you delete files without a trace. You can use the AVG file shredder to erase files from the system memory, and these files cannot be retrieved even by using disk utilities. This shredding feature is available in the free version of AVG as well.

Avg Shredder Settings

Follow these guidelines to learn how you can set up and use File Shredder in AVG.

  • AVG File Shredder helps you delete files permanently, and at the same time, it replaces the memory occupied by those files with scrambled data. Follow these steps to shred a file with AVG shredder.
  • Launch the AVG application and click Menu File Shredder Select file or folder.
  • Choose the path of the file that needs to be shredded and click OK.
  • Select ‘Shred it’ and then click OK.

Avg Shredder Access Rights

If you encounter an issue when using AVG, where there is a message stating that there is not enough access rights to shred, follow these guidelines to fix it.

  • Check whether there is an Avast process running in the background. If so, stop that process and try shredding again.
  • If the AVG shredding issue is not resolved, shut down the computer. When restarting the computer, press the key shown on the screen to enter BIOS. Use the arrow keys to select 'Safe mode' and press Enter.
  • Run AVG on your computer as an administrator and check whether file shredding works.

Avg Shredder Disappeared

Follow these guidelines to regain access to AVG shredder if you cannot find the AVG shredder feature.

  • Launch AVG PC TuneUp on your computer and click Integration.
  • Locate the ‘Show Shredder’ checkbox in the right-hand side panel and click it. (It could have been accidentally disabled.)

Avg Shredder Recovery

If you accidentally used AVG shredder to delete a file on your computer, it is almost irrecoverable. However, you can try using a third-party file recovery software such as EaseUS, Recuva, or Diskdrill to recover these shredded files.

Avg Shredder Not Working

If AVG shredder does not work, try launching the AVG application as an administrator and then attempt to perform a file shredding.

  • If the method mentioned above does not solve the AVG file shredding issue, follow these steps to resolve the issue.
  • Download AVG Remover from the official manufacturer’s site and run it on your computer.
  • Ensure that the correct AVG application is selected and follow the on-screen prompts to remove AVG. Restart the computer.
  • Reinstall the AVG application and run it as an administrator. Check whether the shredding issue is resolved.
