The Bitdefender Error Code 1004 occurs if the proxy usage is not activated in the Bitdefender application.

Method 1

  • If you have the internet connection via proxy, proceed with the simple steps mentioned below.
  • Open the main interface of the Bitdefender Antivirus application.
  • Click the Settings button followed by the Advanced tab.
  • Turn on the toggle next to the Proxy Server. This will enable the Proxy Server feature.
  • If you need to customize the settings, click the Proxy Change button and select the Custom Proxy Settings option.
  • Complete the required fields with the correct information.

  • If you do not have a proxy connection, carry out the instructions provided below.
  • Launch the main window of the Bitdefender application by clicking the Bitdefender icon on the desktop of your computer.
  • Click Settings -> Advanced.
  • Check if you have turned off the toggle switch beside the Proxy Server option.
  • After disabling the Proxy Server feature, check if the error code 1004 is resolved.
  • If the Bitdefender Error Code 1004 persists, continue with the steps below.
  • Click the Win icon that is located at the bottom-right end of the screen to display the Start menu.
  • In the search column, type ‘Internet Options’ without including the single quotes.
  • Select the Internet Properties option from the available search results.
  • When you see the Internet Properties window on the screen, click the Connections tab.
  • Click the LAN Settings button. This will open the Local Area Network (LAN) Settings window on the screen.
  • Remove the checkmark next to the ‘Use proxy server for your LAN (These settings will not apply to dial-up or VPN connections)’ option.
  • Finally, click the OK button in the Local Area Network (LAN) Settings window.
