Bitdefender Error Code 1009 Issues

In error code 1009 Bitdefender indicates VPN connection issue. This error also appears if you are unable to connect to the internet when your firewall is preventing your VPN connectivity.

To fix this issue, follow the troubleshooting instructions given below.

  • If you are unable to connect or access your internet, check your network status by launching a web browser and navigating to some sites.
  • Make sure that your VPN or Proxy server is running. If you find another or unknown VPN or Proxy server, then disable it and check if the issue has been resolved.
  • If the issue remains unresolved, then perform some advanced troubleshooting instructions to fix the error code 1009 Bitdefender.
  • Close all the existing applications on your system.
  • Restart your computer system.
  • After that, try to connect to your Bitdefender VPN.
  • If the Bitdefender VPN is unable to connect to your network, change the network type.
  • If you have established Wi-Fi network connection, then try using Ethernet cable.
  • Check if the VPN adapter is turned ON.
  • To check it, click the Start menu, type the ncpa.cpl command in the search field, and press the Enter button.
  • Now, the Network Connection window will open.
  • Locate your VPN adapter, right-click on it, and select the Enable option.
  • Now, try to connect Bitdefender VPN to your network.
  • If you are still not able to access Error Code 1009 Bitdefender VPN, uninstall and reinstall the Bitdefender VPN software on your system.

To uninstall Bitdefender VPN on your system, perform the instructions given below.

  • Click Start --> Settings --> Apps --> Bitdefender VPN --> Uninstall.
  • After successfully uninstalling Bitdefender VPN, restart your system, and then begin the reinstallation process.
  • Visit the official site of the Bitdefender interface and download Bitdefender VPN.
  • After downloading, launch the Bitdefender interface, click Privacy, and select the Open VPN option in the VPN section.
  • Now, change the DNS settings. Navigate to the Network Connection setup window.
  • Locate and right-click on your VPN adapter.
  • Click the Properties button followed by the Networking tab.
  • Enable the Internet Protocol Version4 (TCP/IPv4) option and click the Properties button.
  • Click the Radio buttons beside the Obtain an IP address automatically  and  Use the following DNS server addresses options.
  • Type 1.1.1.1 & 1.0.0.1 in both the Preferred DNS server and Alternate DNS server fields.
  • Re-check the options and click the OK button.
  • Now, restart your system and then check if the issue is resolved.
