  • Download a third-party Antivirus software that provides email security from a trusted source.
  • Ensure that the Antivirus icon sits on your Windows taskbar. 
  • If there is a protection shield on the taskbar, the Antivirus software will stay active while you are surfing the internet.
  • If you don’t find the Antivirus icon on the System Tray, launch the Google Mail Antivirus program.
  • Go to the Tools section or Advanced Settings.
  • Checkmark the Tray Notifications or Display System Tray notifications options depending on your Antivirus program.
  • Go to the home screen of your Antivirus program. Locate the Email scanner option. This feature may vary according to your Antivirus program.
  • Ensure that the Email scanner is turned on using a green check or check whether the status is active.
  • Select the Mail icon to enable the email scanner if it is disabled.
  • Now, you have activated Google Mail Antivirus on your computer.
  • All the email messages that you receive on Gmail will be scanned by the Antivirus program on your computer.
