How to Configure ESET Smart Security Firewall Settings?

  • Find the ESET Antivirus Firewall icon on the task tray and then double-click it to open the main window.
  • On your computer keyboard, press the F5 key.
  • Click Network Personal Firewall and then select Automatic mode with exceptions (user-defined rules) from the Filtering Mode drop-down list.
  • Click Personal Firewall Rules and Zones on the left panel of the screen. Click the Setup button in the ‘Zone and rule editor’ section on the main panel of the screen.
  • When the ‘Zone and rule setup’ window opens, select the New button at the bottom-left corner of the screen.
  • In the New Rule window, navigate to the General tab, and choose either Allow or Deny from the Action drop-down list.
  • Select both from the Direction drop-down menu.
  • Make sure to mention the name of a rule in the Name field.
  • Go to the Local tab and then select the Browse button to choose the ESET Firewall application for which you need to create the rule.
  • Select Open after selecting the application.
  • Navigate to the Remote tab and check the Remote Side and Local side field at the bottom of the screen.
  • Hit the OK button at the bottom-right corner of the screen to create a new rule for the selected application.

How to Block a Program Using ESET Smart Security Firewall?

  • On the home screen of the ESET Antivirus Smart Security Firewall program, select Setup.
  • Select the Advanced Setup option at the bottom-right corner of the screen.
  • Go to Personal Firewall on the left panel of the screen and then click Edit beside the Rule option.
  • Select Add and then click the General tab.
  • Specify the name of the program you need to block in the Name field.
  • Make sure to select Deny from the Action drop-down menu.
  • Click Both in the Direction field and click TCP & UDP in the Protocol field.
  • Select the Local tab and mention the name of your application in the Application field.
  • Click the OK button thrice.

How to Reset ESET Firewall?

  • Display the home screen of the Firewall program.
  • Press the F5 key on the keyboard of your computer to open the Advanced Setup window on the Clean my PC screen.
  • Select the Network Protection option on the left panel of the screen and then click Firewall.
  • Click the Default icon at the top-right corner of the screen.
  • Select Revert to Default.
