Web Companion is an application similar to an antivirus designed to protect computers from malware, adware, and privacy breaches. Usually, it is categorized as a potentially unwanted application because of the way developers distribute it.
If you wish to uninstall the Web Companion program from your Windows computer, follow the quick steps given below.
On your Windows computer, open the Task Manager window by pressing the Ctrl + Alt + Del shortcut keys.
Move to the Processes tab in the Task Manager window and search for the processes related to Web Companion such as WebCompanion.exe and AASearchCompanion.exe from the displayed list.
Give a right-click on each process and select the End Task option.
Next, open the Settings window by pressing the Windows + I shortcut keys (for Windows 8 or 10).
Click on Apps and locate the Web Companion uninstaller. Right-click on it and choose Uninstall.
If prompted, click Yes or OK to confirm your action.
If you are using Windows 7 OS or earlier, open the Control Panel app and click on Programs and Features.
When the Uninstall or change a program page opens, find the Web Companion program from the displayed list.
Choose it and click the Uninstall/Change button at the top.
Once you have successfully uninstalled the Web Companion program on your computer, go to Windows Registry Editor and remove all the entries related to Web Companion.
To do so, launch the Run dialog box first by pressing the Windows + R shortcut keys.
Next, type ‘Regedit’ in the Run dialog box and press the Enter key.
In the Registry Editor window, click the Edit tab and select Find Next.
Type ‘web companion’ in the search panel to locate the entries related to Web Companion.
Once you have located them, give a right-click on each entry and select the Uninstall option.
You can also remove the Web Companion program using any trusted adware removal tool.
