Nearby Sharing Windows 10 Not Working?

Nearby Sharing Windows 10 Not Working

Nearby sharing enables you to share your files, photos, and documents with nearby devices using Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. It works quite similarly to Apple’s Airdrop. If Nearby Sharing is not working on your Windows 10 computer, try the troubleshooting techniques mentioned below and fix the issue efficiently.

Check your OS

With the introduction of the 1803 version of Windows 10, Microsoft also introduced Nearby sharing. Thus, Nearby sharing works on Windows 10 computers with version 1803 or later. But it doesn’t support the versions earlier to 1803 on Windows 10 computers. To check your version, follow the instructions below.

  • On your computer, click Start and choose Settings> System> About.
  • Locate the Version section. If the version is 1803 or higher, proceed with the next troubleshooting solution. If the version is before 1803, you need to update your Windows OS to the recent version. To do so, click Start and type updates in the search field. Choose Check for updates, and then Windows will automatically download and install the required updates.
  • Now, check whether the issue is fixed. If not, proceed to the next section.

Check Bluetooth

  • If you have enabled low power mode on your computer and your Bluetooth doesn’t support low energy mode, you may end up in trouble.
  • On your computer, click Start and go to the Device Manager section.
  • Right-click on the Bluetooth radio button and choose Properties. Click Details and choose

Bluetooth radio supports Low Energy Central Role.

  • If it shows you the value as True, it signifies that your Bluetooth supports low energy mode. In case the value is False, it signifies that your Bluetooth doesn’t support low energy mode. In that case, you can go ahead and purchase an external Bluetooth adapter.
  • At times, a corrupted adapter may cause a significant issue. So, replace your Bluetooth adapter and check whether you can connect your computers via Nearby sharing.

Keep your computers closer

  • When it comes to connectivity, Bluetooth can work in specific ranges only. Thus, if you have kept your computers farther, Nearby sharing may fail to work.
  • So, bring your computers closer and check whether the Nearby Sharing feature is working on your Windows 10 computer.
