Norton 360 Not Scanning

A failed update can cause this issue. It is enough that you restart the computer to fix this problem. Or proceed to uninstall and reinstall Norton 360 using the Removal and Reinstall Tool.

Norton 360 Quick Scan Fix Not Complete

  • Close all programs on your computer.
  • Reboot it.
  • Open the My Norton window next to Device Security.
  • Once the update is finished, click OK.
  • Run LiveUpdate until the message “ Your Norton product has the latest protection updates” appears.
  • Restart the computer.
  • Download and save the Norton Power Eraser file to a particular location on your computer.
  • Run Norton Power Eraser by double-clicking the NPE.exe file.
  • Hit Yes or Continue in the User Account Control window prompts.
  • Read the terms of the License Agreement and hit Accept.
  • On the Norton Power Eraser window, click the Scan for Risks option.
  • This software performs a Rootkit scan and requires a system restart.
  • Hit Restart when prompted.
  • Go to Settings and disable the Include Rootkit scan option.

  • Close all the applications on your computer.
  • Restart the computer.

Uninstall the Norton software on your computer as follows:

  • Access Settings > Programs > Norton 360.
  • Right-click it and select Uninstall.
    • On the Internet, download Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool.
    • Press the keys Ctrl and J together simultaneously to open the Downloads window in your browser.
    • Double-click the NRnR icon.
    • Agree to the terms in the License Agreement.
    • Tap Remove & Reinstall > Continue > Restart Now.

  • Run Norton 360’s LiveUpdate until it reports no new updates.
  • Try performing a manual scan.
  • Uninstall Norton program and reinstall it.
  • Or use Norton’s Remove and Reinstall Tool to completely remove the program files.
