Case 1: Screen recording is not working in Windows 10

You can use Xbox Game Bar on Windows 10 to record game clips, screenshots, and broadcasts. If the screen recording is not working in Xbox Gar Bar, follow these troubleshooting steps.

  • To begin with, open the Start menu and click the Settings icon.
  • Click the Apps tab in the Settings window.
  • Click the Apps & features tab from the left-side panel.
  • Search for the Xbox Game Bar app and select it in the available list.
  • Click on Advanced options below the app.
  • Under Xbox Game Bar, click the Reset button.
  • Exit the Settings app and open the Start menu.
  • Type Game bar settings in the search field and hit the Enter key.
  • Choose the Game bar tab in the Settings window.
  • Toggle on the Record game clips, screenshots and broadcast using Game bar button.
  • Ensure that the Open Game bar using this button on a controller.
  • Exit the Settings window and restart your computer.
  • Check if the screen recording is working.

Case 2: Audio recording is not working in Windows 10

  • To begin with, hit the Windows key to open the Start menu and then click the Settings icon to open the Settings app.
  • Alternatively, open the Settings app by pressing the Windows + I shortcut keys.
  • Click on Update & Security in the Settings window.
  • Select the Windows Update option from the left-side panel.
  • Click the button Check for updates.
  • Wait for Windows to search for the available updates.
  • If the updates are available for the audio devices on your computer, install them.
  • Restart your computer and check if the correct recording device is enabled. For that, right-click the Volume or Speaker icon at the taskbar and select the Recording devices option.
  • Go to the Recording tab in the window that appears.
  • Give a right-click on the audio device and select the Enable option.
  • Once again, right-click the recording device that is not working on your Windows 10 computer and select the Set as Default Device option.
