It’s slightly annoying to access the Spectrum email account from a web browser. So, you can configure an email client like Outlook. To manually configure the Spectrum email account, you should know the server details. The server settings of the Spectrum email account are provided below for your reference.


Incoming mail server for Spectrum

  • Account type - IMAP
  • User name - Your Spectrum email address
  • Hostname - mobile.charter.net
  • Port - 993
  • Authentication - Required
  • SSL/TLS - Yes

Outgoing mail server for Spectrum

  • Account type - SMTP
  • User name - Your Spectrum email address
  • Hostname - mobile.charter.net
  • Port - 587
  • Authentication - Required
  • SSL/TLS - No

Below are the step-by-step instructions to add the Spectrum email account in the Outlook email client using the server settings.

Manual setup of the Spectrum email account in the Outlook email client

  • Outlook 2010 - Launch Outlook 2010. Click the File tab at the upper-left end. In the Account Information window, click the Add Account option.
  • Outlook 2007 - Open Outlook 2007. Choose the Account Settings option from the Tools menu. Click the New option in the Email tab.
  • Select or click the Manually configure server settings or additional server types.
  • Click the Next option at the lower-right end of the screen.
  • Choose Internet Email and click Next to continue.
  • Provide the following Spectrum email account details.

User Information

  • Your Name - Your full name
  • Email Address - Your Spectrum email address

Server Information

  • Account Type - IMAP
  • Incoming mail server - mobile.charter.net
  • Outgoing mail server (SMTP) - mobile.charter.net

Logon Information

  • User Name - Your Spectrum email address
  • Password - Your Spectrum email account’s password

Checkmark the following options.

  • Remember password
  • Test Account Settings by clicking the Next button.

Select More Settings to open the Internet Email Settings window.

Outgoing server

The following two options must be selected.

  • My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication
  • Use same settings as my incoming mail server


  • Incoming server (IMAP) - 993
  • Choose the SSL from the Use the following type of encrypted connection drop-down menu.

Outgoing server (SMTP) - 587

  • Click OK to save these port settings.
  • Select the Next option to test the Spectrum email account settings.
  • Once you see You have successfully entered all the information required to setup your account, click the Finish button.
  • Now, you can access the Spectrum emails in the Microsoft Outlook email client.
