Solution 1: Restart Windows Search Service

  • On your Windows 10 computer, open the Task Manager by pressing the Ctrl + Alt + Del shortcut keys.
  • Click the Details tab in the Task Manager window.
  • Give a right-click on the SearchUI.exe file in the Name column and click the End task button.
  • If prompted, click the End process button to confirm your action.
  • Windows Search will restart automatically the next time you search.

Solution 2: Update Windows

  • Open the Settings app.
  • Click the Update & Security tab in the Settings window.
  • Select the Windows Update tab from the left-side panel.
  • Next, click on Check for updates to check if any updates are available for your Operating System.
  • If updates are available, install them and click the Restart Now button.
  • If still Windows 10 search not working issue persist, go to the next solution.

Solution 3: Reset Windows Services

  • Start by launching the Settings app from the Start menu.
  • Alternatively, open the Settings app by pressing the Windows +Ishortcut keys.

  • Alternatively, you can use the Command Prompt app to reset the Windows Search Settings.
  • Open the Start menu and type ‘cmd’ in the search field.
  • From the search results, right-click the Command Prompt app and select the Run as administrator option.
  • Type ‘msdt.exe -ep WindowsHelp id SearchDiagnostic’ in the Command Prompt window and hit the Enter key.
  • This command will reset Windows Services.
